"CAMTUCS-AZ (CAMTUCS)" stands for Cameroonian Association of Tucson-Arizona

It's a Not for Profit association, officially incorporated in Arizona in April 2020. Nevertheless, CAMTUCS was formed in August 2018, and has been an instrument in building the Cameroonian community in Tucson since its inception. The need for incorporating the association then was not critical because of its small size, however the community has consistently grown in numbers to warrant incorporating the association.

Our Vision

The vision of CAMTUCS is to create a community that gives members the feeling of belonging and the spirit of unity and solidarity – to support members in integrating and achieving their full potential in the new land they proudly call home.

CAMTUCS aspires to the welfare of the people of Cameroonian origin residing in Tucson, and Arizona as a whole and strives to create an environment favorable to its members’ social and economic well-being, as well as making available to its members an environment that fosters cultural diversity.

Furthermore, CAMTUCS wishes to mark the City of Tucson’s imprint, by participating in a variety of community programs and volunteer activities such as the city clean up, feeding the hungry, family fun events, to name a few.

The functioning of the association is governed by 3 core values: INTEGRITYRESPECTSOLIDARITY

Our Mission

CAMTUCS serves as an agent that strengthens the links that unites the Tucson-Cameroonian community by:

  • Promoting the development of members as resourceful and responsible members of our community.

  • Creating opportunities for networking and information sharing in helping the growth of our community.

  • Promoting and integrating our rich and diversified culture.

  • Collaborating with other community groups in Tucson and within the state of Arizona to help build a stronger and cohesive community.

Serving My People (Our Purpose)

There is a new dynamic wind blowing through the Cameroonian community in Tucson, and in Arizona as a whole. “For a stronger community…” such a mantra invites us to get involved together, as stewards for the development of our community. How can such an objective be achieved? Well, Like Rome, communities cannot be built in a day. Setting up a community is often the easiest step – nurturing and growing that community is the long-term challenge. Our purpose, therefore, is not of a project, but of a volunteer program, which is intended to be structural. We call it “SERVING MY PEOPLE“
